December 29 Devotion
Let Go, Let God
All of us have someone in our life that needs Jesus. They may be a prodigal, they may be someone struggling with a crisis of faith, or it could be they haven’t even grasped the truth yet. We care about them, we pray for them, we might even try to affect them for Christ ourselves. Whether it is a child, a parent, a spouse, or a friend, we have to realize that as much as we love them, God loves them even more. He has a plan for them, He is pursuing them and He can do a much better job than we can at bringing them into the fold. He promised to go after the one lost sheep. We need to trust Him with this. These aren’t just words on a page, they are who He is, and they are how He is. He is the Good Shepherd who pursues our loved one everyday. We must remember that. Our job is to pray and be available. Sometimes that is miserably hard to do. But it is time we let go and let God do his thing.
Matthew 18:12-14 ““What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.”
Read Luke 15 the parable of the Lost Son for a great reminder that prodigals are welcomed fully back into the family.
It is time to let God be the Good Shepherd and the intercessor that He is for them while we pray and be still and know that He IS GOD.
Psalm 46:10 “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Leave your loved ones in his capable, loving hands.
