OCTOBER 19th
I heard a couple of quotes the other day that are worth reading today. I don’t remember who said them all, but it wasn’t me.
“This is God’s universe and He does things His way. You may have a “better” way, but you don’t have a universe!” - J Vernon McGee
“It really is simple…if you read the Bible and you disagree…you are wrong.”
“There are only 2 ways to live… you can have fear of God OR fear of man. Remember who your Boss is…”
2 Timothy 4:1-5 In the presence of God and of CHRIST JESUS, WHO WILL JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
“We can’t please this world, but we can please God.”
1 Thessalonians 4:1 As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
“Remember God has a plan to bless your life in His Word (Jeremiah 29:11). The enemy has a plan to curse your life through the world. You choose which one you want.”
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
“Are you frail in body and mighty in Spirit or are you mighty in body and frail in Spirit? “
Romans 8:11-13 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
1 Timothy 4:8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
These aren’t just a bunch of catchy sayings. They are truths, worded well, to make us think, and choose. Let’s examine ourselves today to see which side we are on and repent and redirect our course as needed. Pride can be as subtle as thinking we know what it best in a given circumstance. Let’s choose HIS way today.
Lord, thank you for your patience and willingness to continue to change me. Help me to recognize times and areas in my life when I am running my own game plan instead of yours. Help me to recognize any pride or mismatched priorities. Holy Spirit help me to surrender myself to your realignment. Thank you for your help today.
