Do you need refreshing today? Look at the promises in this passage from Psalm 19.
Psalm 19:7-10 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.
Looks like one-stop shopping to me. Look at all that we get from the Word of God: refreshing, wisdom, joy, enlightenment.
The Word is perfect, trustworthy, right, radiant, pure, enduring, firm, righteous, more precious than pure gold, sweeter than honey.
I would say this is a treasure that we should not take for granted. So many in the world do not have a Bible in their heart language. Can you imagine??
They are not just missing out on words on page!! They are missing out on all those things I listed above. So let’s not take it for granted. Spend time today reading and committing some of God’s Word to memory.
Let’s get the Word in us so that we can be changed by it and so that we have it to use when we need it.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God a may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Done any sword fighting lately? Well you have to practice if you plan on sword fighting. So let’s get busy working on that!
Here are some easy but important ones to learn and put into practice.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice Always
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray continually
1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances…
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
When the enemy comes at you with alarming news lean in to these verses and put God in the middle of the situation!
Jesus, thank you for your Word. Thank you that it is alive and active not just a book on a shelf. Thank you that your Word accomplishes ALL that you set it forth to do. Help me to crave it, to learn it, to obey it and to use it. Thank you Jesus!
Isaish 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
