DAY 74

Sometimes we don’t see our troubles, or life in general, through the right eyes because we forget that even though we are down here on Earth, God is thinking about us. Do you need to remind yourself that you are God’s heart and He is thinking about you? I know I need to be reminded of that. Maybe because I know I am not worthy of His love, I find it easy to forget how much He loves me and thinks about me.

Psalm 139:17-18 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.

So what do you think He thinks about you? Do you think He thinks the way you do about yourself? Do you think He focuses on your flaws (the way you do?) Do you think He shakes His head in disgust about how short you fall from perfect? Do you think that He writes you off because you sinned, again. Don’t get me wrong, sin is serious, and deadly, and we need to live out our faith in reverence for God. But do you think He turns His back and doesn’t want to look at you anymore?

It might help if you think about this scenario: You are a paratrooper jumping out of a plane. Here you are plummeting toward earth and for some reason you are not pulling the ripcord on your parachute. The pilot (who happens to be your spouse) sees you getting closer and closer to earth and he starts talking into the radio in your ear, urging you to use your parachute. You instead reply that you are not sure it would work anyway so you will just take your chances on your own, besides you are still above the clouds so you know you have time. He can see on his instrument panel exactly how close you are to crashing to your death so he persists to try to convince you, even reassuring you that he knows it will work because he packed your chute himself.

The pilot wouldn’t be thinking, well what an idiot, I am done with that stupid paratrooper. Not worth my time and effort. NO, that pilot, your spouse, would be doing everything they could to convince you to pull the cord to try and prevent your death. If you were distracted by birds or pretty clouds, He would be trying to get you to focus again, even though you can’t tell how close your end is, He can and does everything He can to get you to pull the cord and stay alive. Only you can pull the cord.

Jesus sees us plummeting toward our death and He spends His time at the right hand of God the Father praying for us day and night, the Holy Spirit whispers constantly in our ear trying to lead us to make the right decisions. HE is FOR US, not against us. HE is on our side (better yet we are on HIS) so He is pulling for us.

As we face what is ahead in our lives, let’s debunk the enemy’s first lie, that God doesn’t love or care about us. He loves us more than anything. In fact we consume His time, ALL of it. Day and Night, His focus is on US!

Romans 8:34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

So no matter what parts of Revelation we will face, we have to rest in the fact that we are on the winning team and that if He is for us, who can be against us? In other words, if He is for us, it doesn’t matter who our enemy is, we win!

Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:37-39 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We need to pull the cord and let His love carry us to safety.

Jesus, thank you for being for me. Thank you for spending your life to save me and your time to pray and intercede for me constantly. When I start to feel discouraged or when the enemy lies to me, help me to remember that. Help me to live my life grateful and as a living testimony of your love. Holy Spirit, Help me to listen to your voice.
