Psalms can be a good way to learn to personalize scripture. Because of the personal way that David and his ministers wrote the psalms they are easy to take as our own. You can pick almost any one and read it as your own. Start to grab hold of these promises as your own today.
Psalm 28:7-9 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.
Psalm 27:1-3 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
Remember words are powerful and the Word of God is alive and active.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
So when you start to speak these promises into your life you will begin to renew your mind and you will start to see His results. You will see a transformation take place, the one talked about in Romans 12.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
So let’s start today to renew our minds through the Word of God in our lives. Take a Psalm a day and speak that personally into your own life.
Psalm 19:14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Jesus, thank you that your Word is not just marks on a page. Thank you that your Word is alive and active and able to bring change. Help me to surrender my heart and mind to your Holy Spirit so that I can be renewed and transformed through your Word. Thank you for knowing exactly what I need to be transformed. Thank you for your perfect love.
