AUGUST 24th

So we have talked about both/and, now let’s look at another word pair that we find in the Word of God. This is “even though/I will.”

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Even though I am in a deadly, dark place, I will not fear….why? because He is with me. And in Him I have peace right?!

Habakkuk 3:17-29 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.

Even though I am in a desolate place, with famine and failure, I will still rejoice in the Lord and take joy in my God…why? Because He is my strength!

Even though Abraham knew that God had said His promise would come through his son Isaac, he still obeyed and started to sacrifice Isaac on the altar.

Even though it might be hard or even though it doesn’t make human sense, or even though it isn’t what I want…

…I will obey, I will praise, I will step out in faith.

Even though it’s storming…I will step out of the boat and walk with Jesus!

What is your “even though/I will” today?

Jesus, even though you knew you would suffer beyond belief, you chose to come to earth, live as a human and die for me. Help me to be willing to obey you even though it is hard sometimes. Help me be willing to praise you even though I don’t always feel like it. Help me be willing to do your will even though I don’t understand it. Thank you for your love, help me to have your perspective and see you in my life.
