AUGUST 28th
Our plan for the day:
Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
What if we actually DID that today? What if that is how we behave today? I know, it is tall orders isn’t it? But remember He doesn’t ask us to do anything that He doesn’t equip us to do with His help. That is why we have the Holy Spirit right? Remember we don’t have to muster up the fruit of the Spirit, we just have to get “self” out of the way so that the Spirit can flow through us. Let’s surrender today and live out this plan for today.
When we deal with people today that irritate us or offend us, let’s give that to the Lord and immediately ask the Holy Spirit to show us how to respond instead of getting angry or defensive. We ALL have room for improvement so let’s try to remember that today.
Luke 6:41-42 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
So rather than focusing on the faults of those around us, let’s try to keep our focus on Jesus today so we can shine His light to others. Finally, let’s remember to give thanks. A thankful heart of gratitude brings healing to others and to our very own brains. We have so much to be thankful for, even in hard times. We have things to be thankful for that we don’t even know about, prevention of accidents, avoided disasters and thwarted enemy plans for example.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 …give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Lord thank you for all that you have done for me. Forgive me for not being grateful to you every single day. Help me to walk in your plan for me today and help me to remember that you make it possible for me to do everything that you direct me to do. Help me to surrender my will and my attitude to you and help me to see others through your eyes.
