The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 19
DAY 19
As the days grow more and more evil, we need to remember who our enemy is and focus our prayers that way. People are not our enemy. They may seem like they are, but the Bible is very clear about this.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
To win a war you must know your enemy and you must know who you are fighting. This pertains to us as well as we head into this time ahead of us. We are fighting a spiritual war that affects the physical world we live in; We are not fighting a physical war that affects the spiritual world. We fight a spiritual war with spiritual weapons. Our biggest spiritual weapon is prayer. If we understand who our enemy really is, our prayers will be more properly directed. We will better understand what to pray for and even who we should be praying for in these times.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Now don’t stress out over going to battle, it is not ours to fight alone. We have been given the privilege of joining the Holy Spirit and also other believers in this battle. It is a duty and a calling, but it is also a privilege and a blessing. And we are promised if we bring everything to the Lord in prayer that His peace will guard us.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
In every situation, that means when we feel under attack or when everything seems to be going our way. We should have a daily battle plan for prayer, not just pray whenever we happen to remember or feel like it. We need to be intentional in battle and make a dedicated effort to be diligent and faithful in prayer daily.
Enough talking about it, it is time to dig in and get busy,
“All hands man your battle stations!”
Jesus, help me to know how to fight this battle in prayer. When I start to get upset with people, remind me that the real enemy is Satan and help me to show grace and forgiveness toward those people since they are just pawns in Satan’s game. Help me to remember who my enemy is so that I can pray the way you need me to pray. Help me not to worry about the enemy but to remember who You are so that I have peace even in the middle of the battle.
