The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 22
DAY 22
Let’s pause for a moment and think about what we have “seen” of Heaven so far in Revelation. We have seen who Jesus is now, -our Risen, Fierce, Victorious Jesus and we have seen the Throne Room with God the Father seated on the throne and the Holy Spirit present. We are almost a quarter of the way through and this is what God chose to reveal to us about Heaven and the future.
We have all heard about the streets of gold and the pearly gates, but these didn’t even make the cut for the first and most important things to know about Heaven and what is to come. So let us ask ourselves, “why are the resurrected Jesus and the Throne Room the most important things to show us?” And then maybe we ask God that same question, just to make sure that we are actually grasping all that He wants to show us about these things. Let’s not assume that what we grasped on the surface so far is everything we need to know now.
God doesn’t do anything randomly or by chance. Everything has a purpose. We need to recognize that God thought it was important for us to know these things about Jesus and Heaven before we proceed to “see” and learn the rest of what is in Revelation. These things we have learned are the most important things we need to learn. Before we move on let us take some time and make sure that we have these things down in our hearts. Let us make sure that we didn’t just let the words bounce off of us but we took them to heart and let them renew our minds and change our perspective. What we see and understand about Jesus and Heaven affects our everyday life. It affects our perspective but it also affects our relationship with Jesus.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We need to let our new knowledge renew our minds and transform us. If we do that then we will be able to know what God’s will is and follow it. We need to let our refreshed knowledge of who Jesus is now transform our relationship with Him and others. We need to let our new knowledge of the happenings in the throne room affect every area of our lives. We need to let this word of Revelation fall on good soil and take root and produce in us fruit that will affect not only our lives but those around us as well.
Jesus, help me to slow down and let what I have learned so far sink in and take root. Help me to realize everything you want me to understand in this study of your Revelation. Please renew my mind and transform me with your word. Holy Spirit teach me and help me to be aware of your presence as I learn. Thank you for the privilege of getting this glimpse into Heaven. Help me understand.
