The Book of Revelation Devotions Day 23
DAY 23
So, He made it a point to show us our Risen Jesus and He made it a point to show us that He is on the throne. It is important as the world gets crazier and our lives get more difficult, that we remember these things. We need to remind ourselves that He already conquered, sin, death and Hell. We need to remind ourselves that God is still on the throne.
As we hear the craziness in the news, it might be good practice to reread Revelation 4 and 5 and refocus ourselves on the Mighty Adonai that sits on the throne. That would put the news into proper perspective.
As we see the enemy at work around the globe and see ways that he seems to win, it might be good practice to reread Revelation 1 and 5 to remind ourselves of who our Risen Jesus is now and that He has already defeated the enemy and has set in motion the rest of God’s plan.
Many people rarely turn to the pages of Revelation, but these chapters we have covered so far bring hope and promises. When we get weary of the fight, perhaps we turn to Revelation chapters 2 and 3 and remind ourselves of the promises that await us if we continue to be victorious.
Colossians 3:1-2 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
As Christ followers be determined not to let your phones, tablets, TVs or computers have the last word. When we see bad news, let’s have the good news of God’s word be what we follow up with, after all, He will have the last word anyway!
Jesus, help me not to focus on the craziness or the evil in the world around me. Help me not to give my time to the enemy like that. When I do see those things, help me to dive in to your Word so that I am not anxious or worried. Remind me to focus on what you have showed me in Revelation about you and what is ahead so that I can walk in peace and be hope to those around me.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
